Design can either make or break online content, specifically when it comes to those with additional needs. When design is inclusive, it can revolutionise the experience of those who may feel excluded from a digital world. When online design factors in groups who may feel marginalised in this arena, a website can engage a whole new audience and become a tool to help people instead of hindering their work or pleasure.
I had not realised how great the impact was of inclusive online design until reading through the case studies of this thing. There was far more to this than I had ever considered previously and definitely made me aware of how much I take for granted as an able white person. Going forward, I hope that I will be more aware of how online experience can inhibit or encourage the engagement of all groups of people and not just my demographic.
